Pioneer vs LG Drives

Pioneer ceased global production of optical drives for the
Verbatim 43888 some time ago, and as such, any Pioneer-based Blu-ray burners
are no longer in active manufacture. The only remaining stock available
globally comes from limited old inventory or OEM units embedded in branded
enclosures like the Verbatim BDR-UD04. These are becoming increasingly
scarce and are now considered premium collectors’ items, especially by
enthusiasts in the home media and archival communities. Verbatim now uses LG
internals exclusively for all current 4K UHD models.

While we very occasionally receive limited stock of Pioneer
units, these are sold at a premium due to high demand and scarcity. If you’re
specifically after a Pioneer drive, please keep an eye on our product page —
